About Accident Compensation Calculator

Last updated

Accident Compensation Calculator is a free, independent tool that estimates personal-injury compensation (UK) and settlement (US) payout ranges using published injury-bracket data — the Judicial College Guidelines and the official whiplash tariff. It is operated by Mustafa Bilgic. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

What this site is for

If you have been injured in an accident, the first question is almost always the same: “how much is my claim worth?” Lawyers can answer it, but only after a consultation — and many people simply want a realistic ballpark before they decide what to do. That is the gap this site fills. Our calculators turn the same components a solicitor or attorney uses — the type and severity of your injury plus your financial losses — into a clear, instant estimate range, for free and without asking for any personal details.

How we calculate estimates

Every estimate is built from two parts that mirror how real claims are valued:

  • General damages — compensation for the injury itself (pain, suffering and loss of amenity). For the UK we use bracket-style ranges based on the Judicial College Guidelines for the Assessment of General Damages in Personal Injury Cases (16th–18th editions, including the April 2024 uplift). For the US, where no single official table exists, we use typical published settlement ranges by injury class.
  • Special damages — your actual financial losses, such as lost earnings, medical and care costs, and future losses. These are added to the estimate exactly as you enter them.

For UK whiplash injuries lasting up to two years, we apply the statutory whiplash tariff set by the Ministry of Justice under the Whiplash Injury Regulations, rather than the Judicial College ranges, because that tariff is what the law requires for those claims.

We keep our figures current. Compensation brackets and the whiplash tariff are reviewed and updated periodically. We refresh our data when new editions of the Judicial College Guidelines or amended tariff regulations are published, and we show a “last updated” date on each page.

Our principles

  • Honest, not inflated. Some claims sites quote eye-catching maximum figures. We show realistic ranges and always label them as estimates, because an unrealistic number helps no one.
  • Independent. We are not a law firm, claims-management company or lead generator, and we do not sell your details. The site is supported by advertising only.
  • Private by design. The calculators run entirely in your browser. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number or any identifying information to give you an estimate.
  • Transparent sources. We base figures on published, citable references (the Judicial College Guidelines, the Ministry of Justice whiplash tariff, and recognised US settlement data) rather than invented numbers.
